Tasting Tonight, 2/5/2010 – California Dreamin…

Cabernet Sauvignon, California, Grape Varieties, Napa Valley, Petite Syrah, Pinot Noir, Sonoma Valley, Syrah/Shriaz, Zinfandel No Comments

…On such a winter’s day…

Come taste 3 reds from California at Dandy tonight from 6-9 PM:

LAGUNA RIDGE 2006 SONOMA COAST PINOT NOIR

Burgundian in character… mushrooms and earth mingle with wild berry fruit.  Yum.  $21

SUMMIT LAKE 2003 HOWELL MOUNTAIN ZINFANDEL

“Dusty mountain tannins” as one person put it, sounds like a CW song… I get black pepper and plums with a long smokey finish, maybe some dark chocolate in there somewhere too.  $18

RELATIVITY 2007 QUANTUM RESERVE

There’s a lot going on here… Zinfandel, Syrah, Petit Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon… it’s a big, bold, blend of a wine.  I was skeptical at first, but the cherry and spice won me over.  It’s a house favorite.  $19

Beaucoup de fromage and a fancy peppercorn pate from Northern Cali that will most definitely pair well with tonight’s selections.

(While supplies last)

I want to share a song with you. The only music I remember listening to while riding shot gun in my mom’s 1952 Chevy Pick-Up Truck is Taj Mahal’s “Giant Step”  and the title song, “Take a Giant Step” goes something like this…

Remember the feeling as a child

When you woke up and morning smiled?

It’s time, it’s time, it’s time

You felt like that again…

You know what I’m sayin’?  The rain has stopped and I think I might even see some blue peeking through the cloudy skies… But the best news of all is:

IT’S FRIDAY! Read the rest of this entry »

Subject: WINE TASTING AT DANDELION WINE 10/31/08

Boo!  It’s Halloween.  I love Halloween.  I like to dress up and eat candy.  Don’t you?

Because of this reason, tonight’s email will be brief so I can have more time to prep for tomorrow.  Yes, I will be in costume and yes, there will be candy… and of course WINE.

I didn’t invite a wine rep this week, because Greenpoint can get pretty scary around Halloween time, you dig?… Read the rest of this entry »

SALUT TOUT LE MONDE!!! Comment ca va?

Hello Friends.  This is Jeremy from over at Dandelion writing to let you know about tomorrow’s wine tasting.  I’m sure you are all talking about the Vice Presidential debate, the state of the economy, no Mets or Yankees in the playoffs, etc, but I want to discuss something that will raise the spirit of all Americans, especially my favorite people in Brooklyn.  I want to talk about this amazing Fall weather and the delicious wines we are going to be enjoying! We’re back in business baby!!! I was touched by how many people mentioned they missed the email last week. Unfortunately I was unable to send it as our internet was down all day…AAHHHH!!!!  I am actually attaching the email from last week, in case anyone might be interested in what we tasted.  It was a great tasting as always, but maybe some of you weren’t sure we had one at all with no email.  Sorry about that.
