Tasting Tonight, 2/5/2010 – California Dreamin…

Cabernet Sauvignon, California, Grape Varieties, Napa Valley, Petite Syrah, Pinot Noir, Sonoma Valley, Syrah/Shriaz, Zinfandel No Comments

…On such a winter’s day…

Come taste 3 reds from California at Dandy tonight from 6-9 PM:

LAGUNA RIDGE 2006 SONOMA COAST PINOT NOIR

Burgundian in character… mushrooms and earth mingle with wild berry fruit.  Yum.  $21

SUMMIT LAKE 2003 HOWELL MOUNTAIN ZINFANDEL

“Dusty mountain tannins” as one person put it, sounds like a CW song… I get black pepper and plums with a long smokey finish, maybe some dark chocolate in there somewhere too.  $18

RELATIVITY 2007 QUANTUM RESERVE

There’s a lot going on here… Zinfandel, Syrah, Petit Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon… it’s a big, bold, blend of a wine.  I was skeptical at first, but the cherry and spice won me over.  It’s a house favorite.  $19

Beaucoup de fromage and a fancy peppercorn pate from Northern Cali that will most definitely pair well with tonight’s selections.

(While supplies last)

California, France, Friday Night Tastings, Languedoc-Roussillion, Napa Valley, Provence No Comments

Friday Night Wine Tastings Are Back!!!!!   We hope you all had a wonderful holiday and we are excited to have our weekly gatherings back here at Dandelion.  Here’s what’s in store for the evening…………..

Tonight,  January 8, 2010  from 6-9pm

Chateau La Bouscade 2006 Syrah-   Grown on the slopes of Minervois, this BIG Syrah can warm anyone’s day.  Lovely expressed fruit and complexity.

Fe’lines Jourdan 2007 Picpoul De Pinet-  From the Languedoc, this white wine has zip and excellent minerality.  Think fresh and fun.

Burch Hall 2005 Petite Syrah- From the Burch Winery in Napa Valley.  A great example of what the New World has to offer.  Intense flavors of dark berries.  Their saying is, ” The romance of wine begins when you open the bottle.”  Nice

Aaron from Gabriella Wines is pouring the juice and Tom is bringing the cheese!!   See you then.

Costume, Candy, and Wine…

Boo!  It’s Halloween.  I love Halloween.  I like to dress up and eat candy.  Don’t you?

Because of this reason, tonight’s email will be brief so I can have more time to prep for tomorrow.  Yes, I will be in costume and yes, there will be candy… and of course WINE.

I didn’t invite a wine rep this week, because Greenpoint can get pretty scary around Halloween time, you dig?… Read the rest of this entry »
