About Dandelion Wine
Dandelion Wine (aka Dandy) is a boutique wine shop located in northwest Brooklyn -- in the quiet but beautiful small-town neighborhood of Greenpoint.
With its schoolhouse-like atmosphere, weekly wine tastings, and free local delivery, Dandy has become something of a refuge for the residents and visitors of Brooklyn's Northside.
The Dandy staff carefully curates the shop by working with over 40 distributors and tasting dozens of wines each week to hand pick little gems you don't see anywhere else.
The selection is eclectic but vast, representing all the major wine regions of the world, many of them organic or biodynamic, most of them under $25, and all of them with a story to tell...
Whether showcasing the organic wines of a rule-bending, Spanish female winemaker (Esther Pinuaga), or tracking down Sancerre's smallest producer (Vincent Grall), Dandelion Wine thrives on the joys of discovery and the pleasures of sharing.
Our Staff
Lily (aka Snarky or Mama Bear) is a former farm girl/exchange student/honky-tonk bartender with a life-long passion for wine and food. Her two favorite places in the world are upstate New York on the farm where she grew up and the great city of Brooklyn. Upstate for the long hikes and swims with her dog Bonita and for cooking meals that take all day to prepare; "food tastes better when the air is fresh and stress is low". And Brooklyn because it is perhaps the most diverse city in the world that offers the best in food, drink, music, art, and people; "walk into just about any bar for stimulating conversation, a fresh local beer, and a bad-ass jukebox"
"La Nina Bonita" (aka Bonita, Bo-Bo, Boner, Bones, Bon Bon or Beaujolais) is an Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Healer) born on a Mexican ranch. She moved to Brooklyn after spending her first 2 years roaming the desert hills of Arizona. Bonita's favorite foods are steak and eggs. She loves playing Frisbee, swimming in the pond, and cuddling on lofty pillows. Bonita can be finicky with finding friends (she may bite), but when she makes one, they are forever.
Tom Athans is Dandy's wine consultant and cheese procurer. He spent most of his formative years in Greenwich Village when he was not bumming in France or Greece. Tom bartended in legendary Village watering holes like the Corner Bistro, the Lion's Head, and the Village Vanguard. His dream is to open a hot French bistro/Italian trattoria with the Dandy crew in Greenpoint.
